Trust Operations Analyst

Objectives of this Role:
The Trust Operations Analyst is an exempt role responsible for providing advanced support to the Trust Operations Department. This position serves as a Subject-Matter Expert (SME) and key resource for Trust Operations staff, delivering training, back-up coverage, troubleshooting, and desk support across multiple trust functions. The role requires deep knowledge of trust operations, securities processing, and regulatory requirements, as well as the ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and support departmental continuity and risk management.

Key Responsibilities – Daily, Monthly, Quarterly, or Annually:

Operational Support & Expertise

  • Serve as a Subject-Matter Expert across trust operations functions, including securities processing, account administration, corporate actions, income processing, and reconciliations.
  • Provide real-time troubleshooting and problem resolution for complex operational issues.
  • Identify root causes of operational errors and recommend process improvements to mitigate risk.

Training & Knowledge Transfer

  • Support onboarding and ongoing training of Trust Operations staff.
  • Develop and maintain training materials, playbooks, desk procedures, and operational documentation.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to staff to promote accuracy, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.

Back-Up & Desk Coverage

  • Provide back-up coverage for Trust Operations roles during absences or peak workloads if regular back-up is not available.
  • Ensure continuity of critical operational processes and service levels.
  • Step in to manage time-sensitive or high-risk transactions as needed.

Process Improvement & Risk Management

  • Assist with reviewing and improving operational workflows, controls, and procedures.
  • Support audit, compliance, and regulatory examinations by providing documentation and operational insight.
  • Escalate operational risks, control gaps, or compliance concerns appropriately.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work closely with trust officers, relationship managers, compliance, and technology teams.
  • Serve as a liaison between operations staff and management on out of office coverage, operational issues and initiatives.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with internal stakeholders regarding operational matters.

Qualifications/Education:

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in finance, business, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in trust operations, brokerage operations, or securities operations.
  • Strong working knowledge of trust accounting, securities processing, and operational controls.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex operational issues independently.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to train, mentor, and support staff without direct supervisory authority.
  • In Office Position.

Preferred

  • Experience in a regulated financial services environment (trust company, bank, or brokerage).
  • Familiarity with trust accounting systems and securities processing platforms.
  • Experience supporting audits or regulatory examinations.
