Accountant– Multiemployer Benefit Office

National Electrical Contractors Association – Milwaukee Chapter is seeking an Accountant to join our team within our Benefit Office. Our Benefit Office administers multiemployer benefit trusts for the electrical contracting industry. This hands-on role is responsible for the day-to-day accounting for eight separate trust funds.

The successful candidate will be dependable, detail-oriented, well organized, and able to manage multiple priorities while working both independently and as part of a small team. Experience with accounting software. Strong communication skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, are required.

Responsibilities:
• Maintain multiemployer accounts by verifying, allocating, and posting transactions.
• Balance multiemployer accounts by reconciling entries.
• Maintains general ledger activity, including monthly close and reconciliation of entries.
• Prepare periodic financial reports for trustee meetings
• Maintain organized accounting records to support the annual independent audit and Form 5500 preparation in coordination with the Fund’s external auditors.
• Process accounts payable, including vendor invoices and benefit-related disbursements, on a twice-weekly cycle.
• Maintain accurate accounting records for eight separate funds in current accounting software, Sage 50, and Excel
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
• Associate’s degree in accounting or related field required; bachelor’s degree preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• 3–5 years of full-charge bookkeeping or staff accounting experience preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel; experience with Sage 50 (or other accounting program) and fund accounting or multiemployer benefit plans is a strong plus.
• Demonstrated ability to handle confidential financial information with discretion.

Compensation and Benefits:
• Hourly rate $28.85 - $33.66 (annual pay $60,000 - $70,000) based on experience and qualifications. Non-exempt position.
